Group to clean up winter flooded areas

A group of volunteers will begin working Saturday to clean up areas hit by the January and February flooding, according to the local American Red Cross Chapter.

Linda Lerch organized the group, which will clean up debris beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday (June 7) at the Oakdale Public Access site, an American Red Cross statement said.

People interested in volunteering should contact Lerch at (219) 962-8014.

Also, the American Red Cross will be accepting donations of work gloves and boxes of heavy duty garbage bags, the statement said.

Donated items can be dropped off at the Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross at 615 N 18th St. Suite 101 in Lafayette.

The Chapter is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
